Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when someone visits Santa Cruz County Criminal History, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which it may reach a service provider or legal authority. Continued use of the site signifies acceptance of these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email sent to us may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers automatically receive basic technical information when a page loads:

  • Page-view timestamps
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • The device's assigned IP address
  • Visited pages and time spent on them
  • A referring site, when one is provided

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. Along with analytics services, they help aggregate traffic patterns, such as popular pages and common exit points. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Routing a search request to the selected partner
  • Finding and correcting technical faults
  • Operating the site and maintaining page speed
  • Measuring which material visitors use
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Santa Cruz County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies official sources such as the Santa Cruz County courts and Sheriff's Office, the Arizona Department of Public Safety Central State Repository, and Arizona DPS OffenderWatch. Visitor data is not assembled into a third-party record or consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools. Review a provider's terms before running a query because we do not control its data practices.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to county offices, courts, Arizona agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy governs the visit. Read it before submitting personal information.

Some advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted advertising.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring use and performance
  • Search partners processing a submitted query
  • Advertising networks serving content on the pages
  • Government or law enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices protect the information we handle, but no internet system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee that a breach or unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

The site is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We will delete such data when we learn that it was provided by a minor.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide additional rights. In Arizona, the Consumer Fraud Act, A.R.S. § 44-1522, addresses deceptive practices, while the Arizona Public Records Law, A.R.S. §§ 39-121 through 39-121.03, governs access to government records rather than data held by this private site. A.R.S. § 41-1756 separately restricts unauthorized access to criminal-history information. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy
